| About Event: Research has shown that when students operate from a growth-oriented mindset, they are more likely to challenge themselves, learn from mistakes and setbacks, cope with adversity, and become innovative problem solvers. Focusing on mindset development helps students develop cognitive flexibility, innovative and adaptive thinking strategies, perseverance, resilience, self-discovery, and the ability to receive and give constructive feedback. A growth-oriented perspective and approach to teaching are critical components positively impact their education and attainment. Educators have great influence and can impact mindset development of their students as they adopt and integrate mindset approaches to teaching and learning. In this workshop, participants will learn multiple strategies and techniques to support a growth-oriented pedagogy. Multiple factors impact the mindset of learners. To start this journey, educators need to assess and reflect on their own thinking and application of growth-oriented principles, so they consistently model these skills. Additional factors to support a growth-oriented classroom culture will be shared which include visuals, the learning environment, ongoing and intentional strategies, student practice and application, and teaching and practicing constructive feedback. | ||
